CLARION, PA – Cory Simpson and Andrew McNally posted major decision victories but Clarion won several close decisions to pull out the 30-8 victory over the Golden Flashes on Friday night in the Keystone State.
Friday's dual started at 141 and Cory Simpson wasted little time getting things going for Kent State. Simpson got up early and was relentless against freshman Brayden Palmer. Simpson picked up his sixth win of the season, this one by a 13-2 major decision to put Kent State up 4-0.
The Golden Eagles would rally off a trio of narrow decisions at 149, 157 and 165 to go up 9-4 heading into the 174-pound bout.
