Junior pitcher Ronnie Ladines worked out of critical jams Wednesday during the opening round of the Mid-American Conference Tournament to lead top-seeded Kent State to a 1-0 win over No. 8 Central Michigan.
Ladines (23-8) didn’t just dominate at Firestone Stadium — she suffocated the Chippewas (24-26-1) with a four-hit, seven-strikeout complete game.
The Flashes advanced to play No. 4 Northern Illinois, which edged No. 5 Western Michigan 3-1 in the first game Wednesday, at 1 p.m. Thursday.
Ladines was absolutely brilliant in some innings, including the third when she struck out all three batters.
In other innings, she warded off Central Michigan’s comeback attempts.
