AUSTIN, Texas – Kent State freshman TJ Lawson amassed 7,497 points in the decathlon to take fourth-place Thursday in the highly-contested Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays.
Lawson's 7,497 points was the most amongst the six freshmen in the field and moves him passed Chris Caine (7,394, 2007) for second in the Kent State record book. Lawson began the day in the seventh place and used three top-five finishes to move into fourth place.
His best event of the day was the discus in which he threw 41.37m (135' 8") to finish in third-place. Lawson took fifth in both the 1,500-meter run and the 110m hurdles with times of 4:37.
