COLLEGE STATION, Texas – TJ Lawson bested his own Kent State record by scoring 5,934 points to place fifth in the men's heptathlon and earn First Team All-America honors to lead a trio of Golden Flashes in action Saturday at the 2018 NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships.
The redshirt sophomore set a new personal-record in two of Saturday's three heptathlon events and moved up one spot in the competition's standings from his spot in sixth entering the day. Lawson clocked an 8.36 in the 60-meter hurdles for 893 points to start the day, his second-highest scoring event of the competition.
