Kristian Kneffler cleared 17'-6.50" in men's pole vault action at the Meyo Invitational to break the Kent State track and field indoor record on Friday. The Golden Flashes also had athletes in action at the Akron Invitational.

Down to his final attempt at history, Kristian Kneffler successfully cleared the bar 17'-6.50" to set a new school record. The bar was then raised to 18'-0.50", but Kneffler was unable to punch his ticket to the NCAA Championships and finished fifth. Freshman Layne Studer also set a new personal-best in the competition with a height of 16'-6.
