KENT, Ohio – Kent State freshman Justin Kirby has been named one of Collegiate Baseball's National Players of the Week in addition to Mid-American Conference Co-Player of the Week as announced Monday.
In his first season, Kirby has worked his way into the heart of the lineup and made history Friday evening at Northern Illinois, launching three home runs in a single game to open the series in DeKalb, Ill. Kirby is the first Golden Flash to accomplish this feat since Drew Saylor hit three long balls against Marshall in April 2005.
