KENT, Ohio – Kent State posted its highest-scoring first period of the season in Saturday afternoon's 73-58 victory over Akron inside of the M.A.C. Center. The victory gives Kent State a half-point in the Crystal Clinic Wagon Wheel Challenge standings.
The Golden Flashes (11-8, 4-4 MAC) led 24-23 after the first 10 minutes of action and only trailed for a brief period during the final three quarters. Nearly half of Kent State's 24 field goals came from long range with an 11-of-22 performance on three-point attempts.
Redshirt junior Megan Carter tallied a season-high 26 points and went 4-for-5 from beyond the three-point arc.
