KENT, Ohio – The Kent State softball team honored its three senior student-athletes prior to first pitch against rival Akron on Sunday at Devine Diamond.
Although multiple lightning delays prevented the game from becoming official, Emily Lippe, Julia Mazanec and Alexandria Whitmore were recognized prior to the game and were able to enjoy a special moment, as each member of the senior class caught a ceremonial first pitch thrown by their father.
All three finish their career with multiple entries in the Golden Flashes' record book.
Lippe goes down as one of the most powerful hitters in school history and hit 32 home runs, which ranks fifth all-time.
