Kent State men’s basketball / Golden Flashes outlast Buffalo Bulls 68-65, advance to MAC tournament semifinal against Ohio

Cleveland: Kent State survived a slugfest against Buffalo in the Mid-American Conference Tournament quarterfinals Thursday night at Quicken Loans Arena, dethroning the defending conference champion Bulls 68-65.

The No. 6 Flashes (20-13, 10-8) advanced to play No. 2 Ohio in a semifinal at 8 p.m. Friday. The Bobcats, who split games with Kent State this season, eked out a 67-66 win over No. 7 Toledo earlier Friday.

Kent State and Buffalo combined for 56 personal fouls and 75 free-throw attempts. In all, five players fouled out, Kent State sophomore guard Jaylin Walker picked up a technical foul after arguing a call and Buffalo senior forward Raheem Johnson picked up a flagrant foul.
