Kent State has never beaten a Big Ten team in football.
Golden Flashes coach Paul Haynes said his team must stick to its own style if it wants to change that when KSU opens the season at 3:30 p.m. Saturday in Happy Valley against Penn State.
“When you’re going on the road against a Big Ten, Power Five school ... you can’t beat yourself,” Haynes said in a media teleconference this week. “It could be 21-0 before the balloons leave the stadium because we don’t go out there and execute or we do things out of our realm.
