KENT: National Signing Day can produce thousands of stories of all shapes and sizes, from the mundane to the intriguing.
Two intriguing stories emerged Wednesday at Kent State, where coach Paul Haynes announced the names of the 22 players who returned national letters of intent and plan to play for the Golden Flashes when they open the 2017 season on Sept. 2 at reigning national champion Clemson.
One story involves a junior college player. The other, a high school senior from the small village of Madison, located in Lake County.
The junior college player is Anthony McKay, a 6-1, 285-pound defensive tackle who will transfer from Monterey Peninsula College, located about 85 miles south of San Francisco.
