KENT: Although the Kent State football team has won 13 consecutive games against Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) teams, coach Paul Haynes warned that stretching that streak to 14 isn’t a given.
Haynes said North Carolina A&T State, the Golden Flashes’ opponent in their home opener at 6 p.m. Saturday, is no joke.
The Flashes (0-1) are coming off a 33-13 loss at Penn State — a Big Ten team that plays in a stadium that holds over 107,000 fans. The Aggies, of the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference, play in a stadium that seats 21,000.
Not only have the Flashes had success against FCS teams, they’re also 3-0 — all against Delaware State — when playing the MEAC.
