RICHMOND, Va. - The Kent State field hockey team (0-2) fell to VCU (2-0) this afternoon 1-0.
In the first 15 minutes, the Golden Flashes and Rams ended the quarter 0-0, with VCU leading in shots 1-0. Kent State secured two penalty corners in the second quarter, however the score remained 0-0 at the half.
After a scoreless 36 minutes, VCU converted a corner and took the lead 1-0 up until the end of the third quarter. In the last minutes of the game, the Rams were able to hold the score at 1-0. Cecile van Eijck made five saves and the Flashes led 7-3 in corners.
