Awendaw, SC... The Kent State men's golf team battled on the final day of this year's Hootie at Bulls Bay Intercollegiate, gaining one spot during Tuesday's finale but ultimately finishing in 13th.
"Obviously it was a disappointing week," KSU head coach Jon Mills said. "We had high expectations coming into a course that our guys had seen that we felt suited our strengths but this week it just wasn't meant to be. We struggled with easy shots and we struggled on the greens, two things that will cost you big time in good scoring conditions."
Despite a bit of a slow week for the team as a whole, Chris Vandette, surged ahead through the final two rounds, carding a 69 on Monday and a 68 today to finish in a tie for 16th, seven strokes under par.
