KENT, Ohio- The Kent State men's basketball team has received the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Team Academic Excellence Award, the association announced on Thursday. The award is in its eighth year of existence and the first time in program history the Flashes have received this award.
Kent State was one of just four Mid-American Conference schools to be honored this year alongside Eastern Michigan, Toledo, and Western Michigan.
These awards recognize outstanding academic achievement by a team with a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 or better for the 2019-20 season. In order to earn a NABC Team Academic Excellence Award, institutions in the NCAA, NAIA and NJCAA must count the
grade point averages of all men's student-athletes who competed during the 2019-20 season.
