CLEVELAND — Kent State's Macy Irelan has claimed back-to-back Mid-American Conference Pitcher of the Week, the league office announced on Tuesday afternoon.
Irelan's stellar pitching over the weekend led the Golden Flashes to a sweep of Ball State and first 3-0 start to MAC play since 2016. The sophomore recorded two complete game victories, including a shutout, 20 strikeouts and a 0.93 ERA over 15.0 innings. She limited the Cardinals to five hits and struck out seven on Friday as the Golden Flashes took the series opener, 5-0. Irelan tossed a scoreless inning in a relief appearance to start Saturday's doubleheader and then had a season-high 12 strikeouts in a 6-2 victory that secured the sweep.
