KENT: Behind an electric offense boosted by efficient shooting and an aggressive defense that thrived early, Stow handed Kent Roosevelt a 74-35 home loss Friday night to open the regular season.
The Bulldogs (1-0) forced 28 turnovers and often pressured the Rough Riders (0-1) into poor decisions as they looked for 6-foot-8 senior Jordan Barnes in the post.
On the offensive side of the ball, they connected on 11 3-pointers to seize an early advantage and then pull away. The Bulldogs outscored the Rough Riders in each quarter.
“You want to establish what you stand for early so you don’t have to build to that, so I think what we established today was effort, energy, teamwork, energy,” Bulldogs coach Dave Close said.
