CLEVELAND, Ohio – Kent State redshirt sophomore Karly Hellstrom has been named Mid-American Conference Co-Offensive Player of the Week, the conference office announced Tuesday (Sept. 10). She was recognized with the award along with Ohio's Heather McGuire.
Hellstrom netted the game-winning goal against Syracuse in the Golden Flashes 1-0 win against their Atlantic Coast Conference counterpart. KSU swept the home-and-home series with the Orange after winning 2-1 on the road in overtime last year, and have beaten an ACC opponent in each of the last four seasons. Hellstrom totaled five shots and placed two on target for the week.
