ATHENS — Kent State defeated Melissia BC, 84-36, on Tuesday in the team's first contest during its exhibition tour to Greece. The Golden Flashes took control with a 20-0 run to close the first quarter and led 47-8 at halftime.
Redshirt senior Katie Shumate posted a double-double with 18 points and 12 rebounds and added two assists, two steals and two blocked shots to stuff the stat sheet. Freshman Mya Babbitt joined her in double-figures with 14 points, while classmate Janae Tyler shared the team lead with 12 boards.
