CLEVELAND – The Kent State softball team was victorious in the final non-conference game of the season, defeating host Cleveland State 10-2 on Tuesday afternoon.
The Golden Flashes (24-18) totaled 10 hits on the day. Graduate student Alexandria Whitmore led the way with three hits, three RBIs and two runs scored. She recorded her 100th career hit with a single in the top of the sixth.
Freshman Megan Nuechterlein (17-8) tossed a complete game and had six strikeouts to tie her career-high.
Kent State got the scoring started in the top of the second, as graduate student Julia Mazanec reached second after the right fielder dropped a well-struck ball.
