Louisville, Ky. – The Kent State softball team has been honored by the NFCA (National Fastpitch Coaches Association) with 17 Scholar-Athletes earning recognition for the 2018-19 academic year. The Golden Flashes were second in the nation in total honorees. Kent State finished with a top-20 ranking in the organization's academic team honors, and concluded the academic year with a 3.571 GPA in the classroom, the 16th highest in the nation.
Kent State has finished in the top-30 in 11 of the last 12 years and have also placed in the top-10 five times. The rankings recognize the academic prowess of softball teams across seven membership divisions of the NFCA.
