KENT, Ohio – The Kent State baseball team suffered a 12-0 setback to Ball State in Saturday afternoon's series opener at Schoonover Stadium.
The Golden Flashes (17-24, 12-15 MAC) fell behind 5-0 as the Cardinals sent nine batters to the plate in the top of the first inning. Ball State added one run in the second, two in the third, three in the fifth and one in the seventh.
Collin Mathews singled up the middle to start the bottom of the first, but Kent State was unable to put another runner aboard until Justin Kirby's single to right field with two outs in the seventh.
