KENT, Ohio — A halfcourt heave at the buzzer grazed the bottom of the net as Kent State was unable to overcome an 11-point deficit in a 64-62 setback to Miami during Saturday afternoon's Play4Kay game at the M.A.C. Center.
After falling behind by six early, the Golden Flashes (16-9, 8-4 MAC) went ahead with a 10-0 run and led 15-13 at the end of the first quarter.
Kent State held the RedHawks without a field goal for more than a four-minute stretch during the second quarter and took a 32-27 lead into the halftime break.
