KENT, Ohio – The Kent State field hockey team (4-1, 2-1 MAC) was victorious 3-2 in their first home game of the season hosting Appalachian State at Murphy-Mellis Field.
The Flashes found themselves trailing 1-0 at halftime after Rachel Fleig scored for the Mountaineers at the 19:43 minute mark in the second quarter.
Junior Helena Cambra scored unassisted early in the third quarter to bring the Flashes back to even. Appalachian State's Meghan Smart would strike next to put the Mountaineers back up 2-1. Kent State would not be behind for much longer. Freshman Katie Wuerstle would tie the game again just 1 minute and 29 seconds later.
