KENT, OHIO- Kent State student-athletes topped the Mid-American Conference and ranked 19th nationally in the annual Helper Helper community service report.
The Golden Flashes totaled 2,115 service hours during the 2020-21 academic year. Kent State student-athletes were able to use the relationships they had in the community to find creative ways to give back to the area.
Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, traditional visits and reading sessions with elementary schools were not available. Instead, student-athletes adjusted and worked with teachers and administrators to schedule virtual reading sessions over Zoom. As an alternative to working at local animal shelters much like in past years, student-athletes organized a collection of old t-shirts and turned them into dog toys.
