ATHENS, Ohio – First inning damage decided the game as the Kent State University baseball team (21-20, 9-7 MAC) dropped a 1-0 pitchers' duel to Ohio University (15-26, 9-9 MAC) and settled for a 2-1 Mid-American Conference series victory at Bob Wren Stadium Sunday afternoon.
Junior Zach Schultz (1-4) made his fourth start of the season, recording six strikeouts in 4.2 innings of work while allowing three hits. Freshman Luke Albright complimented him out of the bullpen, allowing just one hit in 3.1 innings of work and striking out two.
Kent State's six-game streak with 10 or more runs was snapped as the Flashes were shut out for the second time this season.
