KENT, OHIO- The Golden Flashes rode a six-run third inning to a 8-3 victory over Akron on Monday afternoon, securing the series win and the coveted Wagon Wheel point.
Monday's victory gives Kent State a 7.5 to 6.0 lead over Akron in the year-long Wagon Wheel rivalry competition. One victory over Akron in softball on Wednesday would clinch the season-long competition for Kent State.
Benny Roebuck got the ball on Monday for his first collegiate start. The right-hander out of Flower Mound, Texas delivered four innings of two-run ball with a pair of strike outs.
