KENT- The Golden Flashes ran their win streak to 10 straight and tossed their second shutout of the year in a 7-0 victory over the Lake Erie College Storm on Wednesday afternoon.
Five Kent State pitchers combined on the shutout, allowing only three hits while striking out 14. Aidan Longwell was the most impressive of the bunch, retiring all nine batters he faced including the final seven via the strikeout.
After leaving runners in scoring position in each of the first three innings, the Flashes broke through in the fourth. A pair of singles and a walk loaded the bases for Collin Mathews, who got the easiest run batted in of the day with a four-pitch walk.
