KENT, Ohio- The Kent State University field hockey team wrapped up its weekend homestand after a 2-1 victory over the 20th-ranked Maine on Sunday afternoon at Murphy-Mellis Field.
Kent State improved to 3-2 on the season while Maine dropped to 0-3.
The Black Bears controlled much of the game and outshot the Flashes 16-10 and 13-4 with shots on goal, however, junior goalkeeper Azure Fernsler was a wall with 10 saves on the day.
The Flashes got on the board first at the 12:34 minute mark when senior Berta Jover Llorens carried the ball up the right goal line and passed it to sophomore Luisa Knapp for her third goal of the season.
