Flashes Juice Orange in Senior Day Shutout

KENT, Ohio – Kent State (1-3-1) utilized an early goal by redshirt sophomore Karly Hellstrom and strong team defense to shutout Syracuse (2-3-0), 1-0, to earn its first win of the 2019 campaign at Dix Stadium on Sunday afternoon. With the win, the Golden Flashes swept the Orange in the home-and-home series and have beaten an ACC school in each of the last four years.

"It was a physical game, and I thought we managed ourselves extremely well," said Kent State head coach Rob Marinaro. "I'm really proud of the effort, and it's always nice to pick up the win especially since we've been playing close games and to see the hard work pay off.
