AUSTIN, Texas- After the first 18 holes of the Betsy Rawls Invitational, the No. 16 Kent State women's golf team holds the second spot on the leaderboard.
Kent State trails tournament host and leader Texas (291) by three strokes as it finished the opening round with a 6-over par 294.
Pimnipa Panthong led the Flashes' efforts in the first round after an even-par score. Panthong went 17 holes for par or better with a birdie on the par-4 hole 15. She sits in a tie for fourth place.
Not far behind Panthong is teammate Kory Nielsen, who shot a 1-over par 73 score.
