KENT, Ohio - The Kent State field hockey team (1-2) won 1-0 against Michigan State (1-2) this afternoon at the home opener.
In the first quarter, both teams were able to record only one shot each. The Flashes secured three corners, however the quarter ended scoreless. Adding three more corners and another two shots, Kent State held off the Spartans at halftime 0-0.
Going into the third quarter, the Flashes were able to keep play in Michigan territory and secure four more corners. Before the final 15 minutes, the Spartans had two shots and Goalkeeper Lyra Gavino made two saves.
