KENT, Ohio – The Kent State soccer team fell to Miami in a hard-fought 1-0 contest on Sunday afternoon.
The Golden Flashes (6-3-2, 3-1-0 MAC) drop their Mid-American Conference of the season while the RedHawks (4-7-1, 1-3-0 MAC) earn their first win of the conference schedule.
The Flashes' defense held the Miami offense in check in the first half, limiting the RedHawks to just two shots on goal. Offensively, the Flashes generated multiple strong scoring chances but could not find the go-ahead goal as Dominique Popa tallied five saves in the opening period.
After a scoreless first half, Miami scored in the 61st minute to take a 1-0 lead.
