YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio– The Kent State University baseball team (11-15, 1-3 MAC) dropped a 4-3 extra-inning battle to Youngstown State (5-23, 2-7 Horizon) at Eastwood Field Wednesday evening. Redshirt sophomore Ben Carew led the Kent State offense, going 4-for-5 with a run and a walk on the day.
The Flashes fell behind 1-0 early as the Penguins tallied a run on a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the first inning and the score remained until the top of the fourth inning, when the Flashes took a 2-1 lead. Senior Pete Schuler drew a walk to lead off the inning and freshman Justin Kirby followed with a single through the left side.
