DEKALB, Ill. – Solid pitching from Zach Willeman and Jared Skolnicki helped Kent State (19-11, 7-1) take another Mid-American Conference series as it beat Northern Illinois (9-25, 5-6) on Saturday.
Willeman went 7.0 in the start with just one earned run. He only allowed four hits and two walks while striking out seven. Skolnicki followed to earn the save as he threw the final two frames with two hits and two strikeouts.
Offensively, the Flashes offered up run support from the onset as they scored two runs in the opening inning.
