BOONE, N.C.- The Kent State University field hockey team (10-6, 5-0 MAC) beat conference opponent Appalachian State (9-5, 1-4 MAC) with a 3-0 shutout to claim the MAC regular season title. With the victory, the Flashes also clinched the No. 1 seed in the MAC Tournament.
The Flashes dominated in the game and outshot the Mountaineers 17-8 with Laila Richter pacing Kent State with five shots and two on target.
Although the first period remained scoreless, the Flashes took a 2-0 lead in the second period. Maria Cambra Soler put Kent State on the board first as she scored for the third time this season off a penalty corner, assisted by Clara Rodriguez Seto and Helena Cambra Soler.
