Sunday, Kent State will be represented by a former football player at the Super Bowl for the 22nd time since 1974 when former quarterback Julian Edelman steps onto the field. Edelman's third career appearance with the Patriots will be a big reason why more Golden Flashes have played in the Super Bowl than any other Mid-American Conference team.
Edelman was the Patriots' leading receiver this season with 98 catches for 1,106 yards. He has also been a clutch performer in the playoffs, making eight or more catches in each of the last six playoff wins for New England, while averaging 106 receiving yards per game.
