(KENT, Ohio) - Sunday afternoon, the third-seeded Kent State women's soccer team faced off with sixth-seeded Toledo in a Mid-American Conference tournament quarterfinal match at Zoeller Field at Dix Stadium. The Flashes won, 4-2, advancing to the semifinal round of the tournament, where they will face off with second-seeded Ohio on Thursday at Bowling Green.
Kent State showed resiliency in this one, fighting off a talented Rockets offense and finding a way to survive and move on to the next round. After Toledo scored the first goal of the match in the 16th minute off of a shot by sophomore forward Ellie Pool (assisted by McKenna Schultz and Olivia Dault), the Flashes responded mere minutes later, when freshman midfielder Siena Stambolich scored to even the score at one (assisted by redshirt senior Cameron Shedenhelm).
