AKRON, Ohio — Kent State senior Gabrielle Figueroa unleashed a heave of 203'-5" to win the hammer throw and set a new school record on Friday's opening day of the Northeast Ohio Quad.
Figueroa topped her previous personal-best by five feet and takes over the top spot in the Golden Flashes' record from Jackie Leppelmeier, who had a throw of 201'-8" in 2015.
Freshman Jake Wickey took second in the men's competition with a distance of 186'-5". Kent State took second and third in the men's shot put. Senior David Paliscak placed second with a top throw of 53'-5.
