FARMVILLE, Virginia – The Kent State University field hockey team (3-9, 1-1 MAC) picked up its first Mid-American Conference win of the season in a double overtime thriller against Longwood (7-3, 2-1 MAC) in Farmville, Va. Sunday afternoon. Sophomore Emma Bressler came up with the game winner in the 86th minute, assisted by senior Jessica Apelt, who also notched two goals on the day.
The Flashes struck first in the 17th minute of play on a goal by Apelt. Freshman Helena Cambra Soler picked up the assist as she fed the ball on a long pass to Apelt.
