CLEVELAND – Freshman 125-pounder Jake Ferri and junior heavyweight Devin Nye each won individual titles at the Cleveland State Open Saturday at Woodling Gym. In a tournament that lasted nearly 12 hours, three other Golden Flashes earned top six finishes.
Ferri claimed his first college tournament title, going 4-0 with a pair of major decisions.
Nye knocked off Gardner Webb's Nathan Bumgarner 5-2 in the finals to complete a 4-0 day. It was Nye's second career Cleveland State Open crown.
The heavyweight bracket also saw a solid performance from freshman Billy Bolia, who went 3-2.
