AUSTIN, Texas – Kent State freshman Gabby Bailey placed 18th in the women's shot put Thursday evening at the 2019 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships.
Bailey's top throw of 51'-11.25" came on her second attempt of the competition. She was the Golden Flashes' first freshman to compete in the shot put at the NCAA Championships since fellow Jamaica native Danniel Thomas-Dodd in 2013. Thomas-Dodd, who placed 19th in her NCAA debut, went on win the national title in 2017 after representing Jamaica at the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympics.
