Kent State junior punter Derek Adams (Manheim, Pa.) earned a pair of honors Monday, for his performance Saturday against Akron at Dix Stadium. Adams was named Mid-American Conference East Division Special Teams Player of the Week for the fourth time in his career and was named to Ray's 8, as one of the Ray Guy Award's top eight punters around the nation.
Playing in his first game of the season following an injury, Adams had a career-long 77-yard punt in the third quarter, tying for the third longest punt in program history. Late in the fourth quarter with the score tied, he flipped the field with a 73-yard punt.
