SURPRISE, Ariz. — The Kansas State baseball team held the lead over No. 5 Oregon State twice, but the Beavers scored seven runs — all with two outs — in the seventh and eighth innings to deal the Wildcats a 7-5 loss on Thursday at Surprise Stadium.
With K-State building a 3-0 lead and starting pitcher Corey Fischer limiting Oregon State (4-1) to four baserunners through six, the Wildcats (2-3) gave up a pair of two-out, two-run singles in the seventh to surrender their first lead.
K-State bounced back, though, in the seventh when Steve Serratore followed up back-to-back two-out walks with a two-run double to left-center field that made it 5-4 K-State.
