Brogan Heinen’s first college start didn’t look promising early on.
The Kansas State freshman hit a Wichita State player with his first pitch of the game and loaded the bases before giving up two runs.
His teammates got behind him in the bottom of the inning, scoring four runs and powering on to a 9-5 win over the Shockers on Tuesday at Tointon Family Stadium.
Heinen settled down for K-State (22-23) after giving up two runs in the first inning and finished the game with three runs allowed over five innings.
“Got to give him a lot of credit,” K-State coach Brad Hill said.
