Kansas State’s season has come to an end.
After the Wildcats lost to Kansas in the quarterfinals of the Big 12 Championship, it was unclear what the next step would be for K-State.
K-State coach Bruce Weber said he believed his team was deserving of a bid in the NIT, but the tournament selection committee did not agree when it announced its 32-team field Sunday evening.
Faced with the possibility of playing in the newly formed Vegas 16 in Las Vegas, K-State opted out of the postseason all together late Sunday night.
“We fell short this season in reaching our goal of playing in the NCAA Tournament, and although we were disappointed to not be selected for the NIT, I am proud of our players for their hard work and perseverance throughout this season,” Weber said in a release.
