MORGANTOWN, W. Va. — Despite leading by two scores at halftime, Kansas State found itself down one point and kicking a field goal to decide its game on Saturday against West Virginia at Milan Puskar Stadium.
K-State kicker Matthew McCrane’s 43-yard field goal sailed wide left, and the Mountaineers held on to win 17-16.
There was plenty of blame to go around for the Wildcats after an ineffective second half of offense, but McCrane took theheat.
“It’s the game of football,” McCrane said. “You learn and we’ll get it fixed, but I apologize to K-State fans.
