LINCOLN, Neb. — Wichita State has laid claim to even more in-state bragging rights.
The Shockers eliminated another Sunflower State rival from a postseason Friday, this time with the volleyball team downing Kansas State 25-22, 17-15, 25-18, 25-20 in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament.
The victory gives the Shockers (27-8, 15-3 MVC) a second-round clash with site host Nebraska at 7 p.m. Saturday.
Abbie Lehman had a team-high 20 kills for Wichita State, which had a hitting percentage of .282 in the contest. Brooke Sassin paced the Wildcats (17-12, 9-7 Big 12) with 18 kills.
