K-STATE 24, ILLINOIS ST. 23
MANHATTAN — Kansas State named its stadium in honor of Bill Snyder during a pregame ceremony.
Then, the Ron Prince era began.
Heroics on special teams turned out to be one positive trait the two coaches shared as the Wildcats scored two touchdowns from those units before holding on to nip Illinois State 24-23.
The K-State defense stopped Illinois State quarterback Luke Drone on a two-point conversion attempt in the final minutes to preserve the win for Prince in his coaching debut.
