MANHATTAN — The moment could have been overwhelming.
In their first college football game, redshirt freshmen Trey Dishon and Reggie Walker started on the defensive line for Kansas State against Stanford, which was ranked No. 8 in the nation. In the Cardinal backfield, they saw Heisman Trophy candidate Christian McCaffrey, who returned the opening kickoff 28 yards then touched the ball on the first four snaps.
Dishon, a 6-foot-2, 300-pound defensive tackle from Horton, and Walker, a 6-2, 235-pound defensive end from Ponchatoula, La., were well prepared for the moment.
“I was stressing watching film all week, wondering what I was going to get here and there,” Dishon said.
